Everyone is pleased with the removal of the mask requirement. But there was a rise in overweight Hong Kong kids during the pandemic. According to the South China Morning Post, the number of obese and overweight elementary schoolchildren was up by 1.8x during the time of the pandemic.

Dietary health issues are among the primary causes. Food delivery was an excellent alternative for those who could not cook in the kitchen at the home. This is the reason why Foodpanda, Deliveroo, and other delivery services have gained popularity. These platforms are popular among youngsters who place orders for food on the internet. Since takeaway food is typically packed with salt, fat, as well as sugar, it could cause harm for our health. Inactivity is another cause. The outdoor facilities were closed during the outbreak. The playgrounds were not open to children. A lot of people sat on the couch all day long, taking classes online.

People who are overweight are a greater chance of developing serious health issues. This can affect our mental well-being. Self-esteem issues are a typical consequence of an anxiety about our bodies.
